04: Shotley Gate
This series complements the SEBC series, and will take the cacher through some lovely countryside, with great views of the Rivers Stour and Orwell, the docks at Felixstowe and Harwich, and the little but beautiful Shotley Gate. Toilets are open to 1900 in Shotley Gate. Drinking stops are available both ends of the walk, but more so in Shotley Gate. I would suggest parking on Bristol Hill, which is free, or down by the river side at Shotley Gate. There's a frequent bus service from Ipswich with connections county wide, and with the trains at Ipswich Station. This part of the S&E Border Caches are placed on the beautiful Shotley Peninsular, with the beautiful villages of Woolverstone, Chelmondiston, Freston, Harkstead, Edwarton, Shotley and Shotley Gate. Based between the River Orwell and River Stour we can thoroughly recommend visitng the area. From this cache can be seen great views of Felixstowe Docks, towards the Trimley end. If you happen to be here after dark then you will be treated to an electric light show. Now cross the road and take the footpath- the first cache along this section is 08 (GC53E9C).
