This is one of those spots you probably wouldn't notice or go to if it wasn't for geocaching.
After getting a DNF log on my Pinnacle Park Cache the other day, I decided to stop in and check on it while out for a bike ride around town. Sure enough, the cache was missing from the guardrail which isn't surprising after the Winter we just had. Continuing down Waverly Ave, I saw a marker above the railing in the middle of the bridge I had never noticed before. Turns out it was a memorial granite marker for the men and women of Pittsfield who lost their lives in battle. I decided then and there to archive my missing guardrail cache a short distance away and put out a new cache at this spot. I love memorial caches as I think it's important for people to recognize those who have come before them, especially those who have died in the service of their country.
Since this gz is located in the middle of the bridge and Waverly Ave is only a 2 lane road, I would suggest that you park at the Pinnacle parking lot just down the street at the parking coordinates and walk to the gz. Since you'll be exposed standing in the middle of the bridge, please be as stealthy as possible in retrieving and replacing the cache.
Congrats to toolmkr for your ftf. Way to go Steve!
