When we started geocaching our two boys were 11 and 9. The idea of going out for a walk and finding treasure was exciting.
"Hooray!" We thought,
"A hobby that will keep both adults fit, and the children wanting to go for walks with us until they leave home........"
Then the eldest hit his teens and electronics started to take over. It became increasingly difficult to not only persuade the boys that a nice walk was preferable to playing for hours on a machine, but when Dad also discovered the joys of e-books the statement, " Can I just finish this chapter before we go out?" Started to become more common.
So, the Alternative 2 Electronics series was devised.
It is hoped that any other cachers with teenage children can also use the series to persuade their offspring that a nice walk is a good idea so that they too can find the Alternative 2 Electronics. And cachers like me who have never seen the appeal of electronics can simply go for a nice walk and collect some smileys.
This cache is the first in a series of 6 caches along the Coventry canal between Whittington and Streethay Wharf. As it is next to the canal, be careful of younger children.
Parking is close to the start of the walk, near to The Plough in Huddlesford.
