This cache was placed for the CAM 2014 picnic. The cache is located approximately 230 feet from an unmarked trail that runs along the eastern side of Cedarville Pond. This trail runs from the parking area to the Plantation (Brown) trail. The cache is a small tube so please bring your own pen/pencil. The clue may make this too easy but may be needed given the number of hiding spots and the accuracy of GPS in the woods.
Parking for the cache is available at Cedarville Pond which can be reached via the unpaved Forest Road. While this road travels through the area of the park where hunting is permitted, this cache is located in the non-hunting portion of the park.
Cedarville State Forest consists of 3,510 acres and includes the headwaters of the Zekiah Swamp. The forest includes five marked trails--Blue, Brown, Green, Orange and White-- comprising over 19 miles of developed trails. These trails were constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. There is currently a $3.00 per vehicle fee to enter this park. You may refer to their web site (http://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/southern/cedarville.asp) for updated information. Please observe all park regulations including their hours of operation and the restriction of parking to designated areas.
