In 1888 fishermen drove ashore more than 300 Pilot Whales onto the beach here in Hoswick. Ownership of the whales was contested by the (then) Laird who demanded a third of the whales' value. The Hoswick residents won full ownership of the whales at the Court of Session in Edinburgh in 1889.
Cache is easily accessible from the bottom car park.
The cache is a lock and lock box and contains a log book, pencil and when placed lots of whales.
