This is the village that I have lived in for most of my life. We have the ancient church of St Michael the Archangel, which I highly recommend a visit while collecting this cache. Although some of us do not attend on a regular basis, the church and activities to raise money for the church are very important for the community and bring us together a few times a year. The actual church, which has been here for at least 800 years, is remarkably calm and beautiful.
The village brewery stands beside the church. Our local historian discovered that beer had been brewed on this site back in the 16th century and this seemed enough to convince the planners from the South Downs National park that a new brewery could be built inside of this ancient barn.
Before the Cuckmere river banks were created by the Victorian engineers, the river valley was flooded almost all the time and the valley was navigatable up to here, Alfriston and Lullington. The level of the water was up to the bank at the back of the brewery.
Well done HindoverViv for FTF at rush hour.
