Geocache Description:

This earth cache provides an excellent example of Rock Ripples.

WARNING: This Earth Cache is part of a stenuous 6km walk. Heed all related warnings and cautions posted at the site.

Rock Ripples are exactly that.... ripples in the rock surface, like ripples on water that has been frozen in time.

Rock Ripples occur where sedimentary rocks form from material that has been agitated by wind or water movement. As sediments get deposited into an area and bind together to form sedimentary rocks the unique patterns are locked into the rock structure itself.

This Earth Cache gives you the opportunity to examine this geological phenomenon up close and learn about the process that creates this unique natural wonder. You will find all the information you need to solve this Earth Cache at the listed co-ordinates with a small amount of searching on the internet.

Feel free to submit a placeholder log, however you must send answers to the following questions by e-mail to Aussie M & M before completing your log. DO NOT POST ANSWERS in your log. Logs that do not comply will be removed. Where possible please provide exact quotes from the information available at the listed coordinates.

2. These ripple marks were preserved where?

3. These ripples are symmetrical. What is the key difference in the environment that creates symmetrical ripples as opposed to asymmetrical ripples?
