A Drive through The Drakensberg Garden Resort will take you to the National Park office and the start of the trails. This is one of the most majestic places to hike through and you really get a feel for how small we are.
A popular place to hike up to is the sleeping beauty cave. The views from the top cannot be described. The hike up to the cache is a relatively easy one which will take you through a well maintained trail. You will have to cross the river a few times with the cache not too far from the last crossing. Enjoy the scenic views of the Sitting Monk and Mashai Peaks around you.
The cache is located just after midway on the trail to sleeping beauty. You will venture into a moss covered forest bed just before the strenuous last stretch up to the cave. The crossing is a nice place to fill up your water bottles and rest a little before attempting the hike up.
We've been to these parts 3/4 seasons and this place is always so enchanting with everything covered in green. Moss grows on different surfaces as a result of the environment being damp. However, that particular surface must have adequate exposure to the sun since moss is photosynthetic.
