This cache has been archived.

2sunbeams: Ah. So sad to archive this one. It was a good run while it lasted. Maybe I'll put another similar type of cache out again in a new location.

The 1960s was an exciting decade. Full of fads like Banana Seats for bikes, Barbie Dolls, Lava lamps, Black lights, Fallout Shelters, Ouija Boards, Mood rings.

But one of my favorite all time movies also came out in the 1960s!

1965
THE SOUND OF MUSIC
Winner of the Best Motion Picture movie winner in the Oscars. It is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. Many songs from the musical have become standards, such as "Edelweiss", "My Favorite Things", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", "Do-Re-Mi", and the title song "The Sound of Music".

When I had the opportunity to travel to Europe last year, I was lucky enough to travel to Salzburg, Austria and see in person many of the locations that were in the movie. It was awesome.

This cache pays tribute to The Sound of Music, one of the best movies to be released during the 1960s. Enjoy!

Update: June 1 - there are two markers in the cache now. If they both happen to dry out, I have now also included a baggie that has labels. Please write your caching name on one and attach it to the "logbook". But, hopefully the markers will last, I think they're more fun to use. Happy Caching!
