Geocache Description:

Join the Wayne County Fossil Hunt and search the Richmond Fossil Park for fossils thousands of years old!

Welcome to the Richmond Fossil Park! In celebration of the newly released Wayne County Fossil Trail, the Tourism Bureau has placed a new geocache in this park filled with an array of fossils. INDOT often drops off truck loads of gravel from road construction that is filled with fossils. Feel free to dig through the pile and see what you find!

Search for fossils and then trade with others in the geocache. There are a few in the container to get you started! For fun, log what type of fossils you find.

The Fossil Trail is a self guided trail that takes you to numerous fossil rich locations where you can search and discover new fossils. Stop by the Welcome Center, 5701 National Road East, Richmond, IN to pick up your Fossil Trail passport. When you find 5 out of 8 types of fossils you can bring it back for a free fossil patch!
