WETIPQUIN CREEK HISTORY:

Wetipquin Creek was originally the site of an Indian settlement. In 1668, 300 acres on the south side of the creek were granted to Samuel Jackson of Somerset county. By 1684, the village of Wetipquin was established for the convenience of shipping and trading. The creek, a tidal tributary of the lower Nanticoke, winds it's way through a salt marsh filled with osprey, blue crabs, muskrats, and other Chesapeake Bay natives. The creek makes for the perfect excursion for those wishing to explore this beautiful area.
