I love cycling and the sport of cycling. I decided to hide some caches along my favorite training route. I have dedicated each cache to a favorite aspect of cycling: athlete, event, race, team etc. This route is very bike friendly. A good spot to start is Geist Park at Florida Rd. Pendleton has a gas station to get food and drink.
The 1989 UCI Road World Championships took place in Chambéry, France. This was the exciting showdown post Tour de France, which saw Greg Lemond and Laurent Fignon challenging for the win. A race long break was away with Dimitri Konyshev, Thierry Claverolet, and Steven Rooks. On the last lap, Fignon began bridging to the break, thinking he had Lemond on the ropes. Lemond then caught and passed Fignon making it to the break. Fignon and Sean Kelly then caught the break, now 6. Several attacks followed with Lemond chasing each down. In a sprint finish, Lemond wins, followed by Konyshev and Kelly.
