This cache has been archived.

DougyB: I am archiving yet another of my caches east of Highway 410. I put this cache out in honour of the Freeman72 family. It wad a neat regular sized cache hidden in a very urban setting. Hopefully someone else will put out another fun cache nearby.

Thanks to all who visited this one!

Geocache Description:

This is the third in a series of caches honouring My Favourite Geocachers.

This container shouldn't be too hard to spot, once you find the right tree. The camouflage is based on techniques I learned from the youngest of the freeman72 clan. DO NOT APPROACH FROM BOVAIRD DRIVE! Mall parking is available at the GZ.

My first encounter with the freeman72 clan was driving along the QEW somewhere around Oakville on May 4th, 2013. My wife and I, along with a friend visiting from NYC, were on our way to the Flash Mob event being held at Dundurn Castle in Hamilton that day. I was driving Karin's GeoJeep (which has a nice big TB decal on the back) when I noticed that there was a car awfully close to our rear bumper. When I mentioned this to Karin, she turned and saw that someone was taking a picture of her TB! The family in the car passed us and waved, so we assumed they were GeoCachers on their way somewhere. About 30 minutes later, we pulled into the parking lot at Dundurn Castle and parked directly behind the very same car! Out popped the freeman72 family (mom, dad and little Kenzie), who it turns out were attending the same event. While exchanging greetings, we learned that they lived but a few blocks from us in Brampton. :)

My favourite story about this clan has to do with Mr. freeman72 and his penchant for caching in his "comfy clothes" (as my wife calls them). The first time this happened I was not there to witness...I had a cache published one day that turned out to be very close to the freeman72 clan's home. The FTF log for this cache included a story of Mr. freeman72 running out of the house in his PJs looking for this cache. This sounded a little far fetched, and I wasn't really sure that I believed it, until several months later when I had another cache published close by. I decided to drive over to the cache just as the listing came out, and was surprised to see Mr. freeman72 there ... and yes, he had on his comfy clothes! Since this appears to be "how it's done" in this part of town, when this family published a cache nearby, my wife drove me over and took pictures of me searching for the cache ... in PJs, slippers and a bathrobe!

Congrats to the freeman72 family on their upcoming second anniversary of Geocaching (members since May 12, 2012). It has been fun running into you on the road and on the trail, and getting to chat with you at various events. And, Kenzie, keep up the great work in preparing and placing geocaches (and helping your parents find the little nanos I hide around town).
