Our family love the Regional Parks around Auckland and are high users of the ones in this area. We were very excited to have another open 'close' to home. We first visited it before the road gate opened to the pubic via boat access and our son came with the Park Rangers doing some volunteer hours in 2013.
Unlike other regioanl parks, which are largely focused on passive recreation or conservation, this one was purchased and developed as a place for Aucklanders to play.
Waitwaa has a campground for kayakers exploring the southeast coast, a shelterd bay safe for swimming and a network of walking, mountain biking and horse riding tracks and trails. There is also a Disc Golf Course, which we tired out on the day of placing this cache.
This is a quick drive by cache at the entrance to the park. It is our desire that you don't just drive by but come in and spend some time here at this stunning Auckland location.
