Childs Play #3: Hide and Seek Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future (within 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Placed the cache at this location as it is one of the neat places in the Hemlock area that I think people do not know about.  I have changed this cache from its original placement due to a ditch that is in place now making it harder than I desired to get to the cache. Now it is completely different.

Changed difficulty as I have had some DNF's and don't want people to deter easily.

Everyone knows the game Hide and Seek, but do you know why people count down and announce that they are coming to find the hiders with two phrases?  Which one of these phrases have you used:  “Ready or not, here I come” OR “Ollie-ollie-oxen-free”?

Did you know that “Ollie ollie oxen free” is a mutated form of the original “all clear” signal. The original words were something like “All ye out come in free,” meaning that anyone still hiding (“out”) can now come back into the group without fear (“free”) of being tagged “It.” Since the game “Hide and Seek” itself is at least four centuries old, there’s been plenty of time for that original phrase to be filtered through small ears clogged with dirt and come out almost unrecognizable.

When you log this cache, tell the geocachers reading this log your favorite childhood game.  The times of playing some of these games are a thing of the past with all the technology and phone ”apps” people have today.
