This is the fifth of a little series I have decided to place in commemoration (or sometimes celebration) of pubs that have disappeared.
This cache comes with an apology to those cachers who are vertically challenged.
.
I drank and ate in The Crooked Billet a number of times that I can remember. It was a type of ‘steak’ pub and as its name suggests, it had a very crooked exterior, and the interior was equally as unusual with lots of nooks and crannies, meaning you felt like you were eating with just your own company rather than a pub full of strangers.
It even gave its name to the roundabout which is still known as The Crooked Billet roundabout.
It closed and was boarded up many years ago now, and then suffered at least one fire before it was demolished not long after, and the land has remained boarded up ever since.
You will need to choose your moments carefully to get this cache, and if you are not 6ft tall, like I am, you may need some help, which will make the retrieval even more difficult to keep stealthy. Watch out for muggles appearing as if by magic from the underpass.
Happy Hunting
