WWFM XI – Going on a Cache Hunt with an East View
Date and time: June 7 @ 11 am in a Regal area with an East View in Victor, NY. ;)
Last year, over 25,000 people across 558 events in 42 countries celebrated this event with most events being held simultaneously! Hope we can help beat that number this year! While there is no theme this year, Geocachers of the Greater Rochester Area expressed interest in more than just a typical Flash Mob gathering. So what I came up with is
Going on a Cache Hunt
(to the general rhythm of Going on a Bear Hunt)
This is a repeat tale (start by slapping sides of legs with hands)
We’re going on a cache hunt (pretend to hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
Gonna look high (hold hand over eyes like visor and look up to sky)
Gonna look low (hold hand over eyes like visor and look down to ground)
Gonna spot that cache (point ahead with finger with glee)
Gonna sign that log (pretend to sign a log)
We’re going on a cache hunt (pretend to hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
Here comes the gate (put hands out flat like a wall)
Can’t jump over it (pretend to jump)
Can’t go under it (pretend to dive)
Gotta open it (swing arm wide to open, then pull back to close it)
We’re going on a cache hunt (pretend to hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
We’re coming to a mountain (hands over head forming a point)
It sure is high (hold hand over eyes and look up to sky)
It sure is wide (hold hands stretched far apart)
Gonna climb over it (climbing up and then down)
We’re going on a cache hunt (hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
We’re coming to tall grass (hold hand straight out)
Can’t go over it (pretend to fly)
Can’t go under it (duck down)
Gotta go thru it (swish both arms out and make swish noises)
We’re going on a cache hunt (pretend to hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
We’re coming to a stream (wave a hand up and down like water)
There ain’t no bridge (stomp feet)
There ain’t stepping stones (tip toe)
Gotta swim through it (windmill arms)
We’re going on a cache hunt (hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
There’s a big tree (hand straight out, then raise up)
Gonna climb up it (like a ladder)
Survey the land (hold on with one hand, other hand like visor over eyes)
Gonna climb down (shrug, then climb down like ladder)
We’re going on a cache hunt (pretend to hold gps in front of you)
I’m not afraid (point with both thumbs to self)
There’s a cave (close your eyes, hands out)
Gotta be quiet (finger in front of mouth for a SH!)
Turn on my flashlight (holding out)
There’s a BEAR! RUN!
Out of the cave (close eyes, run in place)
Run past the tree (open eyes wide, run in place)
Swim across the river (windmill arms)
Back through the grass (swish both arms out and make swish noises)
Over the mountain (climbing up and then down)
Back through the gate (swing arm wide to open, then pull back to close it)
Hide under the bed (hide behind hands)
I am willing to take suggestions for another verse or two (don’t want the song to be TOO long), but not planning to add driving. If you have ideas, please post them and I will consider them.
By attending the event, you WILL also earn a virtual souvenir that will be added to your geocaching statistics. Bring a 3 x 5 card with the event, date, your geocaching name(s) and your group total on it.
Timeframe:
10:45 am. Arrival: Arrive no earlier than this time, in your geocaching gear if you would like
11:00 am. Start: When the whistle blows, gather together for the song, lining up in rows. If someone would like to videotape, that would be fine also!
11:10 am. Photo,Log: Group photo. Afterward, please drop your 3 x 5 log card into the cache container for the log.
11:15 am. Leave: When the whistle blows again, please quietly disperse.

(I am holding my event a bit early in a place that should NOT be too busy and yet will draw the attention of the general public, as I have commitments in the afternoon. )
