Geocache Description:

This is a regular-sized micro cache (whatever that means). You must sign the log. The log is there, please do not replace it because it is not missing. Please use stealth in this area (perhaps a rake and hedge trimmers would make you look like you are supposed to be here).

Legend from the old west has it that during the Gold Rush a poker-playing miner named Luke left more than his mark on the hillsides around the Gold Country. Every evening when he was exhausted from toiling in the placer fields, he made his way to the nearest gambling house to try his hand at his own gold mine, the poker table. You gotta hand it to old Luke, he was one of the best poker players around. In fact, he was known from Allegany to Whiskeytown for his steady hand and cool stare. He wasn’t much of a bluffer, more often than not he ended with the high hand. One day, right here in downtown Cool, Luke was caught red handed with too many cards! It turns out that Luke wasn’t as good at playing poker as he was at sleight-of-hand. If he was still on hand he could give David Copperfield a run for his money. Now, back in the day, folks worked hard for their money and didn’t take kindly to being taken by a no-good, under-handed, card-swappin’ “hand mucker”. So, the town’s folk decided to hand out their own brand of Cool Justice: they took away the one thing he would have trouble “playing poker” without … his right hand! After that, the story goes that he left the California Gold Country and headed east towards Cripple Creek in Colorado. There he fit right in and it wasn’t long before he was back to his old tricks, playing it cool and ending with the high hand.

I have a goal for 2014 of hiding caches on days when the month and date match. I hid one cache on 1/1, two caches on 2/2, and three caches on 3/3. With luck and hard work I can keep it up all year. This month was especially difficult because Dinosaur Day Science Fest was held on May the fourth. So, I have been super busy.
Remember, have fun and write a nice log.
