The park where this cache is located is named after John Sappington Marmaduke, the only Missouri governor whose farther held the same position.
John Sappington Marmaduke came from a famous Missouri political family. He fought in the Civil War on the confederate side. He was in the battle of Boonville in 1861, becane a general, wounded at Shiloh, and fought at the battle of Westport.
He became governor in 1884 and was instrumental in establishing the state mental hospital at Nevada.
A very interesting and famous Missouri native.
