The sixties was a very interesting decade with lots of grovey stuff. For the science geeks one of the most interesting things was the space race between the U.S. and Russia. Russia sent the first man into space and then the race was on to see who could get to the moon first. The entire history of the space race can be found on the internet. Let's just say that the race was won when the U.S. sent up Apollo 11 in July 1969. Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin were the crew that went to the moon.
With Neil Armstrong's first step on the moon he made this sentence famous.
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
