Captain Big Al, a handsome, fearless and successful pirate, had spent his life sailing the seven seas. He had hijacked numerous ships over the years and amassed a vast wealth in the form of jewels, dubloons, pieces of eight and other contraband.
He was getting on in years and decided it was time to hang up, or even, roll up, his Jolly Roger and retire to a life of luxury on Crombie Island, to be waited on hand and foot by his two trusty sidekicks AB and The Dame.
He set sail from the faraway port of Monikie to make his final voyage in his aging Galleon. It was night time and had almost arrived when an almighty force 2 storm blew his ship off course and scattered it on the rocks at Crombie. His brave First Mate Phil, grabbed Big Al’s treasure chest (we’re assured it was painless), swam to shore, and found a safe place to hide the chest. He hurriedly scribbled a map showing where to find the instructions to get to the hidden treasure, then left the map in a safe place.
Now, how often have you put something in a “safe place” only for it to be so “safe” that you can’t remember where you left it? Well, the darkness disorientated Phil, that’s exactly what happened to him. Big Al and his crew all managed to swim ashore, but by then brave Phil had got the treasure stashed, instructions hidden and map drawn……….err – and LOST!!!
As you wander round these woods be very careful. Al and his crew are still roaming the woods looking for that elusive map lost by Phil. The thing is, they’ll never find it, because the Rangers at Crombie make sure no litter is ever to be seen, and unwittingly came across two scabby bits of paper that had them puzzled. One had lots of pirate pictures on it, and the other looked like some sort of map. Can you help them solve the mystery?
