Geocache Description:

Depending on the condition of the road, you can either get close for a short walk, or you can park in Kinookimaw and walk ( I personally recccommend the walk) the road isn't always reliable, especially in the winter if you'e attempting it then, or after a rain or two or snow melt!

This cache was made as a promise. I once had the opportunity to work at Police Point Park in Medicine Hat- one of the only nature parks you’ll ever find in the middle of the city and on one of the many meandering bends on the South Saskatchewan River. The Interpretive Program that is run out of the Nature Centre is one of the best you’ll ever visit (and I’m not just saying that cause I worked there). A walk through this park, a conversation about what you saw with one of the interpreters, and a gander at one of the travelling exhibits at this park is the cherry on top of your visit to this Sunny City!

I hope you enjoy this view, you are looking at the Little Arm Bay at the Elbow of Last Mountain Lake. You are standing on Native Land owned by the Kinookimaw First Nations, still full of beautiful native flowers like Spring Crocuses, Three Flowered Avens, Pin Cushion Cactus, Choke Cherries and Saskatoon berries, Blue Gramma Grass, and blue flax. This area has become somewhat of a off roading area for many, but many animals still use it as a temporary home while following the valley on their migration routes each year, and many stay all year round- if you're lucky you'll see a few! If you head down along these trails you will reach the end of the bike path where the train bed met the water, and where the old Trestle used to stand. Down near the bottom is a very well shelterd and large marsh pond where you can see many bird species and listen to the frogs sing. The trail at the bottom leads back along the South Shore through Regina Beach, Buena Vista, and Lumsden Beach, and eventually crosses the lake and ends at Valeport (a very long but pretty walk: around 14km one way).

I hope you enjoy this view, and get to travel to Medicine Hat and Police Point Park on one of your many adventures.

* Not a winter Cache

* And, as this are is used quicte a bit by the off roaders please make sure you camoflauge it back into its hiding spot.
