This is one of 7 caches we are dedicating to these great stories - One for each book.
ABOUT J K ROWLING
The idea for of a story about a young boy who discovers he is a wizard, came to J K Rowling in 1990, while she was sitting on a train, in London, which had been delayed for 4 hours. She didn't have a pen on her at the time but came up with many of the concept's we've become so familiar with on that first day. As soon as she got home, she put pen to paper, & so began the story of "Harry Potter".
At that time J K Rowling was living on a single parent benefit, having recently walked away from a marraige that had lasted little more than a year with one child.
She was struggling to cope with life, finding it hard to make ends meet. Her mother passed away after a long struggle with multiple sclerosis & JK herself was battling depression- which later became the inspiration for the "dementors".
Much of her writing would be done during her spare time, while trying to stay warm in cafe's, libraries, bus/train terminals etc. Then after 7 years, her first book "Harry Potter & the philosopher's stone" was completed. After numerous knock backs, she eventually found a publisher & has never looked back - an amazing "rags to riches" story.
The remaining six books in the series followed over the next 10 years, & J K Rowling has become the United Kingdom's best selling author of all time.
A couple of interesting facts to finish off - the character Hermione was based loosely on J K Rowling, herself. And Ron Weasley was based on a close friend of her's, who owned a turqoise blue, Ford Anglia - the "flying car".
When Harry doesn't have a copy of his own "Advanced potion making" book, he borrows an old school one, & discovers that it is inscribed "This book is the property of the half-blood prince".
The book has additional instructions, spells & recommendations scribbled throughout it, which enable Harry to excel in potions class.
The cache has been placed a short walk along the Westmere lake track.
It's quite a popular track, especially on weekends & holiday's, so be aware of muggles approaching from either direction. GZ can be seen from the track but you can duck down out of sight, or you could take the container away from GZ to complete the formalities, so as not to attract attention - we don't want it to go missing. Be sure to re-cover it well.
