Geocache Description:

Discovery Educator Network (DEN) recognizes
May 17 as DEN Geocaching Day.

When: Saturday, May 17, 2014
Where: Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens
Time: 10:00am - 1:00pm.
Please park at the main visitors center parking lot and follow the fish signs down to the pavilion.

This will be the first annual Discovery Educator Network (DEN) Geocaching Day in Hawaii!!

The DEN is a volunteer educator community. The DEN would like more teachers to become aware of how geocaching can be used to support learning. It is an excellent way to integrate science and technology into a variety of subject areas. Plus, it’s a fun way to get kids outdoors exploring!

We are hoping that teachers will attend this event and learn more about Geocaching from the local geocaching community and take their knowledge back to the classrooms. If you know a teacher, invite him or her to come along with you to the event! There will be a few temporary caches hidden just for the event so that newcomers can learn how geocaching works. There are also quite a few caches already hidden in the park for you to grab if you haven’t gotten them already.

GREAT NEWS!!
The Discovery Educator Network will be sponsoring our event!

What does this mean?? It means that the DEN will be providing swag, a DEN GEOCOIN for each attendee, and they will be covering the cost of lunch! Also, this is the first year that they will be providing a special geocache for us to hide to commemorate this event. You must have REGISTERED (using the link which was posted earlier) in order to receive a geocoin and a lunch.

Registration for receiving a DEN GEOCOIN and a lunch has now been closed as I needed to give Discovery Education a final headcount so that they can ship items to me in time for the event. However, the event is still open for other geocachers to attend. I apologize that I will not be able to provide lunch and a geocoin for cachers who sign up to attend after registration has been closed.
