DISS Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Crow-T-Robot: Unfortunately, the fire damage to my buildings roof was bad enough that the tenants had to vacate the building until repairs are completed. I have decided to move rather than wait, so this cache is no more. I liked the puzzle so I may bring it back to life when I get settled somewhere else. Thanks to all those who have visited!

Geocache Description:

Cache is not at the posted coordinates! However, the posted coordinates are where you'll need to be to figure out the final coordinates.

Read the description below before heading to the posted coordinates!!!

Final is located at: N 44° _ _._ _ _ W 088° _ _._ _ _

Final is an ammo can that is padlocked. The combination to open the lock is TREES

There are two options to solving the puzzle for this cache.

Option 1 is to head to the posted coordinates and try to "read my mind" and figure out where to find the needed numbers for the final without reading anything more than the paragraph in red below. Option 1 will be more of a challenge and you might find that you are not prepared or even able to see the numbers. Option 1 has the highest risks of failure but it also makes this closer to a true puzzle cache.

Option 2: if you want to hedge your bets a little before leaving home, then read what is written below the spoiler break. It will tell you exactly how to find the numbers needed for the final and what you will need to bring with you. Of course, that also takes away any of the surprise, so the puzzle will not be much of a challenge...but it might still be fun!

The posted coordinates will bring you to a place to park on the street. You can park on either side of the street. You can park further up or down the block if you need to (but not TOO far). It doesn't matter if you are there during the day or during the night, as the numbers are visible at any hour. Weather shouldn't be a factor. You don't even have to leave your vehicle. Once you see the correct numbers, the light bulb should go on in your head and you'll know you found the numbers needed for the final. Barring any unusual circumstances, the numbers will be there to be found. Somewhere. They ARE there... and if you look hard enough in just the right place, you'll see them. When you see them, you'll realize they were right in front of your nose the whole time!

Once you have the coordinates for the final, it's a short drive. There is a nearby parking lot and the area in which the cache is hidden is available 24/7. I recommend parking in the nearby lot and making the short walk to the cache. There shouldn't be a big issue with muggles, but occasionally, a few might wander down that way.

Spoilers on how to solve the puzzle below!!!

The Difficulty level for this Mystery cache is set at 4 stars because you must have a "special tool" to see the coordinates. These "special tools" are pretty common today: smartphones, tablets or something that has wi-fi. However, if you do not have a "special tool", you will not be able to see the numbers at all. Attempting to solve this puzzle without a smartphone or tablet will result in wasted gas. Come prepared!

As you can imagine, I am not the only one broadcasting numbers in the area and try as I might (using range extenders and the like), I simply haven't been able to extend the range of my broadcast, so the signal you get at the parking spot is weak compared to the closer signals. The numbers you're looking for are going to be further down the list as most times I park near that spot, I am only getting 1 bar of signal strength. If you wish, you can also pull into the parking lot to the west and get closer to the signal.

If you get to the parking spot and cannot figure out where the numbers are, the title of the cache is a geeky hint (in a Bizarro World kind of way). If you STILL cannot find them, there is an all out spoiler in the hint.
