Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series along the route of a railway laid for the construction of the Abertillery & District Water Board's reservoir at the head of the Grwyne Fawr valley. Other caches can be found in the forest throughout the valley at sites of abandoned Farms and cottages. The cache is a micro and you need a pencil to sign the log. You will need to collect clues from some of the first five to work out the location of the bonus cache.

After the summit of the first incline a cutting and embankment were constructed, the embankment being strengthened by burying long lengths of railway track along the lower side. When the track was laid on the road it was stipulated that to allow other vehicles to pass there should be a passing place every half mile and within sight of the next. This proved to be impossible and although there were sixteen passing places invariably traffic had to drive over sleepers. Passing place PP12 was near here and further along the road just before the turning down to the Tabernacle Chapel where a stream comes down from below the ruin of Tyn y Pant farm, locomotives stopped to take on water from a tank filled from the stream.

Placed with the kind permission of the landowner.

Clue for the Bonus cache:- The number on the telephone pole is G
