Last spring 2013 at the monthly Hazen flea market I stopped to look at small bags full of toys. There were a lot of toys there, and after some down home dickering I got 2 large garbage bags full of toys for $20. After sharing these with local cache placer bubbabeernut, I hatched a caching plan. The result is a 27 individual cache series named TOYS 4 KIDS. All these flea market toys have been thoroughly cleaned and are safe. They are placed on Allegheny National Forest, where hunting season is basically open all year round so try to wear some blaze orange or bright colors in order to stand out. I picked up a tick on my scouting trip so repellent is probably in order and being aware that rattlesnakes are in the area you are very unlikely to see one. (Those who ask why put a cache trail for kids in a rattlesnake area; I can just say I couldn’t put a cache in Elk County if I avoided places where rattlesnakes could be.) Take something but only leave something for kids. All younger kids should be accompanied by proud parents or grandparents.AVOID THESE FOREST SERVICE ROADS IN WINTER, THEY ARE NOT PLOWED AND NOT MAINTAINED DURING WINTER. This area may be damp or wet and boots or waterproof shoes may be necessary. FTF please take the laminated FTF card with cache # and name. Please leave the included gold dollar for kids to take.
