Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache and because the Cache Owner has not been online since December 2014. Geocache Description:

One of the very few windows of cell phone reception in Kehena is this rarely visited spot down on the pali, a clearing in the naupaka marked by lava rocks. Sort of a neighborhood secret spot, those in the know call this location the "Phone Booth".

During the years i lived in Kehena i had a cell phone but no reception at my apartment. A few times each day i would take a steep, little-know trail down to the pali, to a tiny area of cell phone reception a neighbor told me about. I no longer live in Kehena, but i still frequent this spot to sunbathe, picnic, or just bliss out watching the ocean. The Phone Booth is encircled by lava rocks and provides some shelter from wind noise and sea spray. Neighborhood residents refer to this place as the "Phone Booth". It has gorgeous views of the coastline & crashing waves, a small beachy stretch of clifftop sand, and an adjacent soft & shady ironwood grove. The trail down is short but steep and potentially hazzardous, especially in rainy weather. The area south of the Phone Booth offers beautiful coastal hiking where the ironwoods meet the lava cliffs. If you happen to visit this cache on a sunday afternoon and you are feeling social, check out the weekly drum circle at Kehena Beach, just north of the cache. Please be respectful of the neighborhood and ENJOY this fabulous location.
