UPDATE 2021: The cache is no longer a climbing cache. But I am keeping Lorie's original write-up since it's such a great story.
"We loved it!
There were hawks, Osprey, and boat-tailed grackles at the lake. We saw our first Eastern Meadowlark in the grass along the trails. There were nice cypress domes with swamps and cool trees. There were pretty wildflowers in bloom.
And there were lots and lots of cow patties to navigate around which made for a really good workout trying to push the stroller along the trails!
We didn't get very far on the trails, it was just too hot and open. So once geoBaby-M decided to take a nap, I decided to check out the cypress domes a little more closely.
The water levels were down but there was still water in the swamp and lots of mud along the edges too!
I got to see some really neat trees as I skirted the edges of one of the domes. And then I found this really cool tree that just screamed....CLIMB ME!
So I did!
And it just so happened that I had a cache in hand to place while I was up there!
It was about a half mile hike from the parking lot, but we were taking the "scenic" route because of the stroller so it might not be that far from the parking area!
I hope you enjoy the preserve. We are so looking forward to coming back!"
