Geocache Description:

Karura Forest #14: East Side

The cache, a small camouflaged tablet pot, is hidden on the east side of the trail in the left rear (ie. SE side) of a huge tree about 40m south of the Tara Path bridge over the Ruaka River which is on the eastern edge of the Karura Forest adjacent to Kiambu road.

For background information on Karura Forest including access, fees, features, a detailed trail map and useful links, see GC4PD3V Karura Forest #1: Intro, Info & Entry

To reach the cache: (approx 1 hour walk) from the KFEET Centre the most direct route (see map in gallery) would be north to Junction 12, right (east) to J11, left (north) to J27 then right to J26, down to and across the footbridge above the waterfall (location of the Karura Forest #4: Waterfalls cache) then north to J30 where a right turn takes you on to the main Wangari Maathai track, which you follow SE as far as J40, then left to J39, right to the trails T-junction then left to the cache location.

Alternative 1: simply follow the new northern-most trail from the location of Karura Forest #13: Huruma BeeZone cache and head east (approx 20 mins) to the cache location.

Alternative 2: enter and park at the new 'Shark's Gate' (C) on the Northern Trails map (see gallery) @ S 01 14.395 E 36 50.647 and (after paying entry and parking fees) walk north the short distance to the cache location (5 mins).
