A templom barokk stílusban épült Csáky Imre bíboros kezdeményezésére,aki római katolikus püspök volt Nagyváradon 1727 körül . A templom egy hajóból es egy szentélyböl áll, a hagyomány szerint egy a törökök által lerombolt középkori templom romjain építették A legújabb ásatások megerősítették ezt a hipotézist, a jelenlegi templom padlója alatt több építési fázis található, ezek a XIV-XVI. századra tehetöek. A templom ket fontos átalakuláson esett át, 1750-ben Csáky Miklós püspök, kiterjesztette a hajót és a nyugati toronyt epítette, majd Schlauch Lőrinc bíboros 1896-ban, szentély helyreállítás, eklektikus homlokzatok felújítás és belsőépítészeti munkálatokat vegzetett. A hajó és a szentély freskói a neves egyházi festőművész Storno Ferenc keze munkái.

Biserica a fost ridicată in stil baroc la iniţiativa cardinalului Csáky Imre, episcopul romano-catolic a Oradiei în jurul anului 1727. Acest edificiu compus dintr-o singură nava şi o absidă semicirculara a fost construit conform tradiţiei pe ruinele unei biserici medievale distrusă de către turci. Recentele cercetări arheologice au confirmat această ipoteză identificând sub pardoseala actuală a bisericii mai multe faze de construcţie databile între sec. XIV–XVI. Biserica şi-a câştigat forma actuală in urma unor modificări şi adăugiri efectuate în jurul anului 1750 de către episcopul Csáky Miklós (prelungirea navei şi turnul vestic) , respectiv de către cardinalul Schlauch Lőrinc în 1896 (refacerea absidei, renovarea în stil eclectic a faţadelor şi decorarea interioară) . Picturile murale din nava şi absida bisericii sunt opere ale renumitului pictor ecleziastic, Storno Ferenc.

The church was built in Baroque style at the initiative of Cardinal Csáky Imre, Roman Catholic Bishop of Oradea in around 1727. This building consists of a nave and apse was built according to tradition on the ruins of a medieval church destroyed by the Turks . Recent excavations have confirmed this hypothesis by identifying current church underfloor several construction phases dating from sec. XIV-XVI.
The church gained its current form after some modifications and additions made around 1750 by Bishop Csáky Miklós (extension vessel and western tower) and by Cardinal Schlauch Lőrinc in 1896 (apse restoration, renovation eclectic facades and interior decoration). Ship murals and apse of the church are works of renowned painter ecclesiastical Storno Ferenc.
