A cache dedicated to those of our geocaching friends satisfying one (or all) of these definitions currentlyor at any time in the past. You know who you are.
This is at least the fourth generation of caches at this location. The last three have been rather challenging. With this one we have tried to be entertaining without requiring mental or physical gymnastics. The hide is brazen. Importantly, while on-site take a few minutes to explore the hidden Public Access stairway just west of the cache. You will pass between a mature olive tree and one or more large fig trees, bearing fruit at the time of the cache’s release. Continuing down the stairs you will find a small cove where local artists come for driftwood. If the tide is not too high you can walk out to the rocky point of land to the west. Like many of our coastal access points this one is most interesting at low tide, when you may see various types of waterfowl in addition to our endemic crows, turkey vultures and sparrows. A black crested night heron roosted across the street for a period of time this spring and we have heard that a pair of fresh water otters also visited the cove for a while. Across the strait you will see a large stand of eucalyptus and, seasonally, mustard on the hillsides. The historic town of Port Costa is seen around 45 degrees to the east. So, enjoy. Addendum: Because of the high attrition rate of cache containers placed here we have elected to place the cache in a new location and the Short Description is no longer relevant to the placement.
