Geocache Description:

The Cache is not at the posted coordinates.  There is nothing there that will help you solve the puzzle or find the cache

This year I decided to publish a puzzle series. Ode to Big Roy is the fourth cache on the "Tour de Borst".  The series consists of five puzzle caches that contain clues for the final, which is also a puzzle. All the puzzles have multiple stages and none are park & grabs. Approximate distance is given for each cache in the series.   There are also some easy bonus cache coordinates that can be found in the final.  All caches are placed on public land.  There is no need to trespass on any private property.  BYOP as there is no writing implement in the cache.

This is one of the shorter hiked in the Tour. Round trip should be less than a mile, although it will be much farther during the winter. Summer parking coords are given by the geochecker when you solve the puzzle. As always, use caution when hunting this cache. Please heed the terrain rating and know your limits.  Also, be mindful of poison ivy, thorns, ticks and mosquitoes. Hunting is allowed here so beware during hunting season.

Difficulty rating involves both solving the puzzle and dealing with any trickery in the hides.  I reserve the right to change the difficulty based on feed back from finders, DNFs or people who cannot solve the puzzle.  Terrain rating based on ClayJar rating system on geocaching.com.

To get the final coordinates, simply solve the puzzle below to find the coordinates for stage one.  A coordinate checker is included for your convenience and my entertainment. Remember to record the information found in the final.  You will need it to find the last cache in the series.

This cache is ode to an old and dear friend, Big Roy.  Growing up in Cattaraugus Co., Big Roy and his wife Violet were my neighbors, although this cache is not about her.  Big Roy worked as a bus driver for many, many years.  If I recall correctly, at the time of his retirement, he had driven his route for 36 years.  Big Roy had a few simple rules on his bus.  Keep your hands and arm inside at all times, no throwing wadded up papers and no picking on anyone smaller than you.  That left the door open for kids to pick on him but no one ever did.  They didn't call him Big Roy for nothing.  I never rode Big Roy's bus, however.  My fondest memories of Big Roy were hunting in the state forests of Cattaraugus County.  We never shot much, largely because every animal could hear him a mile and a half away.  Big Roy is long gone but his memories live on.  This cache is in memory of my colorful friend.
