A short walk from Littleheath Woods, The Ruffet is a small woodland surrounded by the Chapel View Estate. Originally it was a small woodland in the middle of an open field containing mainly Oak trees but also a few Beech and Birch. The name is old English and means a meadow overgrown with bushes or wasteland or a small wood and is possibly 14th century. There is plenty of parking nearby.
As you'll see when you walk through the woods, there are lots of badger holes around so watch your footing... Near GZ there is a particularly large sett so please be careful and quiet if you are searching early in the morning or later in the evening.
