Geocache Description:

A simple off-set multi set in the village of South Weston, Oxfordshire. It involves looking for information within the churchyard, followed by a short walk to the cache location.

The Church of England parish church of St. Lawrence is in the small village of South Weston; this being less than 2 miles from J6 of the M40. The village has about 20 households.

The church was re-built of flint in 1860 in Decorated Gothic style. It incorporates some of the previous Norman church, which was a very simple building with no tower. The font is 13th century and there is a 14th century tomb recess in the north wall of the chancel. The church was renovated in 1988 to make it more suitable for services. There is a distinctive open central turret with a spirelet above. On the outside east wall, there is a statue of St Lawrence. Services are held every third Sunday morning.

You need to look for information within the churchyard:

1. The number of spikes on the left outer gate to the porch = A

2. The number of spikes on the right outer gate to the porch = B

3. The number of drainpipes around the church = C

4. The number of large gargoyles on the bell tower = D

The cache is at N51° 40.A(D-1)(B-1)  W000° 59.(C-B)(D+2)(A-1). The total co-ordinates add up to 51.

The cache is bison micro container, just above ground level. Please bring your own pen/pencil.

There is no church car park, but usually there is roadway parking close by, or at the south east end of the village (near the post box) on the grass verge.

geocaching.com states under 'Help Center' in Paragraph 1.7. Geocaching etiquette: 'We like to keep things fun for everyone, so we have a few rules we encourage everyone to follow. Sign both the logbook and log your find online to get your smiley. Geocache owners love reading about your experience'. There are more rules, but this is the first one. This cache owner requests that if on the rare occasion geocachers are unable to sign, an explanation is given in their log. A photo of the cache, if possible should then be sent through the messaging system.
