Stryn er den største turistkommunen på Vestlandet, utanom Bergen. Den har i overkant av 7000 innbyggarar, men kvart år har kommunen 130000 gjestedøgn, 130000 cruiseturistar og ei mengd med andre campingturistar. Det er særleg dei djupe dalane med brearmar som trekkjer til seg turistar. Oldedalen med Briksdalsbreen og Lodalen med Kjenndalsbreen er populære reisemål og fotomotiv. Dei mange høge fjella som omkransar Nordfjorden gjer kommunen til eit eldorado både for lette og ekstreme fjellturar. Det er eit velutbygd nettverk av merka løyper for fotturar. Skåla og Lodalskåpa er dei mest kjende toppturane i området og det er lagt vel til rette for alle typar friluftsopplevingar, både sommar og vinter.
Kommunesenteret Stryn ligg strategisk til som trafikknutepunkt i enden av Strynebukta ved den lakserike Stryneelva. Bygda har eit aktivt næringsliv, med Moods of Norway som det mest kjende eksempelet. Det er lett å kome seg til Stryn, enten via riksveg 15 over Strynefjellet, eller via E39/riksveg 60 frå Bergen/Ålesund.

Excluding Bergen, Stryn is the municipality in Western Norway with the largest amount of tourism. It has approximately 7000 inhabitants, but each year it has 130,000 accomodation guests, 130,000 cruise ship tourists and thousands of other camping tourists. It is particularly the deep valleys and glacier arms that attracts the tourists. In Oldedalen you can see Briksdalsbreen glacier, and in Lodalen you will find Kjenndalsbreen glacier - both very popular attractions with splendid views. The many tall mountains surrounding Nordfjord makes this municipality very popular for hikers, both for easy and more extreme hikes. There is a well maintained network of marked trails for hiking. Skåla and Lodalskåpa are the most well known mountain tops. You can find all types of organized outdoor activities, both summer and winter.
The town of Stryn is situated at the end of Strynebukta, an arm of Nordfjord, by the salmon rich river Stryneelva. There is an active business community, with Moods of Norway being the most well-known example. It is easy to get to Stryn, either across Strynefjellet mountain pass on national road 15, or from Ålesund/Bergen on E39/county road 60.
