Geocache Description:

The cache is a camouflaged bison tube

A long time ago Bishops Cleeve was a small village with few dwellings and the locals worked the land and lived simple lives. At the time tales and even sightings of Wererats were common. One cold winters morning following a night of heavy snow a farmer found all of his chickens dead, they were free range birds and no shelter had been available to them from the biting cold. The farmer and his neighbours gathered in the local inn and over many many pints of the landlords best foaming brew it was decided that the Wererats were responsible for the deaths of the chickens. So later that day as dusk was falling the locals grabbed their pitchforks and flaming torches and drove the Wererats out of the village for good. Centuries passed and all was well in the village and the Wererats were largely forgotten.

Until now.

Lately a few suspicious happenings have occurred in the village, tops have been punctured on milk bottles on doorsteps. Wheeliebins placed outside houses which were full in the morning have been found mysteriously emptied whilst the householders have been at work, and usually on the same day each week. Some say there are rational explanations to the strange events but the locals descended from the old families know better.

They're back.

Wererats are generally assassins or thieves hence the wheelie bins being ransacked when they looked for items to steal and the farmers dead poultry. They like to live in dark holes at the base of large trees. If you find any such hideaways be very cautious about reaching inside. A bite or a scratch from a Wererat's claw can be extremely painful. It is rumoured that if a Wererat is picked up and squeezed it emits a loud squeaking sound, though no one has got close enough to one to confirm this.
If you should come across a Wererat when hunting for this cache please be careful and post your experiences for others that may follow.
Recently Wererats have been found and popularised in fiction, gaming and childrens programmes. The most famous being Splinter from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Another well known Wererat is called Scabbers and appeared in the Harry Potter books and films.
