World Wide Flash Mob – The Spice of Geocaching Life. It’s time to bask in the geocaching limelight, with fellow geocachers from around the world, for 15 fast minutes.
This is one of hundreds of Geocaching World Wide Flash Mob events on June 7, 2014. Where all those logging an “Attended” will receive a commemorative digital souvenir for their geocaching profile. Last year, more than 25,000 geocachers attended one of more than 550 geocaching flash mob events in 42 countries spanning the globe.
So what is a Flash Mob?
A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and artistic expression. See also the Wikipedia page.
To get a better idea of what it looks like, check out some of the video clips.
And what is a World Wide Flash Mob?
A World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) is a Geocaching + flash mob hybrid. There's an official webpage that keeps track of all the events. And this video clip will explain more (you can skip the German introduction).
What do you need to do?
- Get there early
- Act like a muggle before the event starts (don't congregate with other geocachers)
- Enjoy the fun spirit of the WWFM. We'll take a group photo.
- At the end of 15 minutes, leave without a trace
- Gather up again, socialize, and we will check out the three nearby caches: Circling Around (GC15844), The WYMM cache (GC53Y1B), and Ramat Gan -Givataim Walking "Trail" (GC4ZFM7).
