Welcome to the Dayton Anti-Flyer GeoArt.

Dayton calls itself the birthplace of aviation since the Wright brothers were from the Dayton area, even though the first flight took place elsewhere.

The idea for placing this series of geocaches came to me as I was completing the "Dayton Flyer GeoArt" created by DACooper - click here to see it. That series of puzzles and geocaches was pretty well done and I had a lot of fun completing it. My smaller series here is intended to both compliment and complement that series.

This will be a much shorter series than the series that inspired it. Each of the geocaches in this series will contain a code in the form of two or three characters. There will be a bonus final - in order to find the final, you will need the codes from the other geocaches.

Please enjoy this series of puzzles.

Weather!!!

Everybody knows weather. Everybody wants to know the weather. When people are chit-chatting, they are talking about the weather. We love good weather. We hate bad weather. Sometimes, some of us like some bad weather, which in a way, makes it good weather...kind of. Uh, ...never mind.

There is nothing that affects aircraft and air travel more than weather. Anyone who has traveled by air more than a few times has undoubtedly experienced delay or cancellation due to weather. Especially in Chicago.

Lightning? The air field shuts down.
Freezing weather, snow, sleet? The wings have to be de-iced.
Clouds or low visibility? Better have instruments and be qualified.
Thunderstorms? Better be scattered and maybe you can fly around them.
Volcano ash? Don't try it.
Fog... Low ceiling... High winds... Hail...

Hail?! Did I say hail?!

Yes, I said hail. Aircraft do not like hail. Everybody knows that. And the bigger the hail is, the worse it is. Pilots hate the stuff. The only person I can think of who hates hail more than pilots is the owner of this wonderful work of art.

I hate hail too. My 1983 Camaro was totaled by the infamous 1995 hailstorm in Fort Worth. Over 100 people were physically injured by hail in that storm, and 13 people were killed by the storm.

Here’s your puzzle...

I am aware that there is a potential for ambiguity due to possible slight variations in the subject matter in different sources out there on the interwebs. Because I know that, I am not just going to throw this puzzle at you and let you fend for yourself. I am letting you in on my primary source via the "Related Web Page" link above. That should keep this puzzle clean enough where you will not have to struggle or over-force the geochecker.

Here's your checker... GeoChecker.com.
