Geocache Description:

In 1916, Brothers Allan and Malcom Loughhead created the Loughead Aircraft Manufacturing Company in Santa Barbara, and built (along with local Jack Northrup) a huge 10-place, twin-engined F-1 flying boat for their aerial sightseeing business.

After decades of people mis-pronouncing their last name "Log Head" they finally changed the spelling to closer match the correct pronunciation: "Lockheed". Does that company name sound more familiar to you?

This is a replacement for the old "Funk Zone" cache. (Building to be torn down - will be a construction site for the next two years). This cache is across the street from what will be the new "La Entrada" Santa Barbara Hotel Project.
