AINSWORTH FAMILY George A. Ainsworth (1851–1925); his wife, Emily (1851–1931); and their three children moved from Utah to Walnut Creek in 1881. Ainsworth, who advertised himself as “The Only Cabbage Man,” sold vegetables from Seligman to Prescott. The Arizona Weekly Journal reported in 1905 that “Judge Ainsworth, the cabbage king of Arizona, came in from Walnut Creek yesterday with a load of produce. He says everyone is preparing all the land they can handle this summer and indications are that it will be the banner season for crops.” Four children born at Walnut Creek increased the family to nine. Elizabeth married Clarence Denny’s son Fred. George E. (1879–1961) was a government mountain lion hunter and owned the Walnut Creek Lazy C Bar Ranch, now part of the K4 Ranch. Clara (1886–1954) married Walter Cline (1879–1959). George and Emily’s great-grandson Barry Cline is a prominent attorney in Prescott. A 1935 Walnut Creek phone directory listed the Ainsworths.
