The Williamson Valley Road Series is a Friends of Morgan Ranch Nature Park history project. Even numbered caches are on the E side of the Rd; odd on the W for 44 mi. WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU WORK 1 SIDE OF THE ROAD AT A TIME. Please pick up trash so the neighborhood trash-pickers are not drawn to the location. No cell or other services for this part of the series.
CROSS TRIANGLE RANCH Delbert Black tells about living with his parents, Alene and Leonard at the Cross Triangle when it was a cattle ranch and a dude ranch in the late 1930s. “I used to swim in the pool, go on rides, attend cookouts, and play with the dude kids. When the war started, the dude ranch shut down. Simmons was part of the Cross Triangle but all the cattle were branded with the 7V brand when the name changed.” Black played puppets with Jan Macway and Shirley Sides. After school, he played hopscotch with Theresa (Parra) Stazenski. In 1933, Mike Moss and Sam Fast, of New Orleans, bought the 3,000-acre Cross Triangle, which Clarence Stewart managed. That year, Walter McLaws found a two-headed Hereford calf on the ranch, which he mounted and exhibited at the 1933–1934 Chicago World’s Fair. Arcadia Publication's, Williamson Valley Road
