Gene Autry was a hero of Warren Evans' a longtime sleigh and hayride operator. This was Evans' route to Bald Hill. At the destination he built a fire and made hot chocolate for his revelers on the rides. This is in tribute to Evans' interest in Gene Autry

A camoed peanut butter jar container hanging from a branch. About 20 feet off the trail. There are many other trails in this area with caches placed along their routes. Enjoy your hike in here. Warren ( a simple bachelor) would be pleased with this tribute to him. He lived under the old oak tree in a converted barn, near where his horses were stabled on Peabody Street. The barn and stable area gone, but the 400+ year old oak still stands in his shadow. Warren handled his horses with ease, whether it be snow plowing, harrowing a field behind them or hitching them up to a wagon for eveyone to enjoy. He would be so happy to think that somebody remembered the enjoyment he brought to others along this route to Bald Hill..

He became a legend in Middleton and during the Bicentennial era contributed greatly to the Time Capsule that was buried in honor of that celebration.
