Being Held at McDade Park in Scranton, just off of Keyser Avenue
Come and join us for a short meet & greet in the park, as cachers around the globe come together for the WorldWide Geocaching Flash Mob! We will gather at 1:00 PM.The official log for this event will be a bit different than you are used to.
You will need to create a paper airplane and write your name on it. We will all avoid the playground until exactly 1:00. At this time we will approach from multiple directions and begin flying our planes. This will last 5 minutes. As we gather for the picture, there will be a bin into which you will drop your paper plane as your official signature on the log.
At 1:05 we can socialize for a moment and begin lining up on the wooden steps for an official group picture.At 1:10 we will take the picture and begin to disperse. The official end time for the event is 1:15. Then those who want to can take off for other caching adventures.
There are seven caches in the park including a multi, an earthcache, a mystery and four traditionals. Including the event, that will give you the opportunity to have 5 different cache types.
I've seen other events where the organizers are asking cachers to leave promptly at 1:15 to preserved the 'flash mobness' of the event, but I'd rather see people have a chance to visit with friends that they might not get to see all that often. Come, enjoy the park and some good company!We are meeting at a wonderful playground so this is also a very family friendly event. There are many picnic tables around so feel free to bring a lunch and enjoy the day!
