The listed coords are for the sign at the church. Two dates are listed on the sign:
- Org C = DEFG
- Built = JKLM

DEFG - 1424 = NNN
JKLM - 1262 = WWW

CHURCH HISTORY:

While built in the Victorian era, the single-story, rectangular frame church was designed and built in a conservative manner with little attention to decorative embellishments. The plain nature of the church echoes the conservative doctrine of the denomination.

The lot on which the church stands was purchased by Elijah Shockley and Uriah Fooks in 1842. The transfer describes the property as
“being a lot of ground whereon the Nassiongo meeting house now stands on the County Road leading from the furnise (sic) to Salisbury where Warner Staten now lives”

Years later the church was rebuilt. At a meeting at the end of that year, it was suggested that each member contribute $1 in an effort to payoff the construction debt.

The church maintained regular services through much of the twentieth century. Elder Thomas M.Poulson, who was present during the construction of the new meeting house, served the congregation until his death in 1913. Following Poulson’s long 43-year association with the Nassaongo Church, several elders preached short term sessions. During the second quarter of the twentieth century membership declined, and by early 1960s only 4 members were left.

The congregation currently holds services at Forest Grove-Salisbury Old School Baptist Church
