Geocache Description:

A very much out of the way hide, a nice walk, in a nice and very unknown Varroville Reserve.

A great place to come to see some views of Campbelltown and the surrounding areas including the City.

Few muggles come here to watch the fireworks at New Years Eve's, otherwise it's usually a very muggle free area.

Not that I am encouraging cachers to cross over the fence to the trig station for a better view.

Now for a bit of History.

The small suburb of Varroville was named by Dr. Robert Townson after Marcus Terentius Varro, an Ancient Roman agriculturalist.

Townson was born in 1763 and was one of the finest scholars and scientists ever to set foot in the colony. One of his closest friends was Sir Joseph Banks.

He became increasingly intrigued by tales of Australia, sent to him by his brother Captain John Townson of the NSW Corps. When he decided to emigrate to Sydney the British Government almost knocked him down in a rush to get the paperwork approved, as he was just the type of man needed to bring a touch of class to the roughneck colony.

The primary & high school, just down the road, in the suburb of Raby is also named after him.

Watch out, there are a few large ants nests around.

Enjoy the cache, the walk & the surroundings.

Congrats to Hillster for the FTF.
