These caches are placed in and around Broughton parish to compliment the existing caches and to link separate caches into a larger collection.
There are several places to start from if intending to tackle them all in a single day or can be split into smaller circular routes, or even can be collected as cache and dash if in a rush.
I’ve tried to place them in obvious places after spending lots of time looking for the right tree, stone, post, log etc… when my gps accuracy has fallen to 20 meters (especially under tree cover)
They are mainly based around the disused railways in the area which date back to 1844 and were still in use in the early 1980’s, to supply Brymbo Steel and a coal storage area in Gatewen (now both housing estates}. There are some others which are there to connect sections if making a shorter route or to reach other caches in the area.
Parking is available at Plas Power, Brynteg memorial hall, Moss valley park or on road parking near caches
This is the branch line that lead to Brymbo Steel, it was in use up until the 1980's. From here the track bed has been built on or turned into gardens for the next mile. You can get onto the road by using a public footpath inbetween the two paddocks, then walk along the road and pick up the track either into the moss valley or ontowards brymbo.
