Geocache Description:

The Whangdoodle is a fanciful creature, as described in folklore and children's literature, most notably used by British authors Roald Dahl and Julie Andrews. The Whangdoodle is described as a terrible beast or a kind, wise animal.  According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the Whangdoodle is an imaginary creature of undefined character.

At this location, the Whangdoodle is something else entirely.  The cache can be found near a historical marker which provides details of the Lakeside Sugar Refinery  which was built here around 1902, sold in 1913, dismantled in 1918 and rebuilt in Jamaica.  The Whangdoodle played an important role in the sugar industry at that time in history.  Come visit the cache and learn the answer to the Whangdoodle of Lakeside.  Keep your eyes open as you drive in this area of Texas.  There was an alligator on the side of the road a few miles away when I placed the cache.

You will  need to bring your own pen as there is no room in the cache for one.  Please replace exactly as you found it for the next cacher that comes along.  As with all rural caches, please be aware of your surroundings and always look for muggles before grabbing or replacing the cache.

:) Congratulations to a&w2013 for FTF!
