Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches based on chapter titles from J.R.R Tolkiens book, The Hobbit. The full book title is “THE HOBBIT, OR, THERE AND BACK AGAIN”, and you will indeed have to go there and back again as it is a linear route. In two of the caches you will find North and West digits, which will give you the coordinates for the bonus cache.

The Elves and men of Lake town have laid siege to the Mountain and the Dwarves. Thorin will not be desuaded from conflict over the gold. Bilbo hatches a plan, he takes the Arkenstone and sneaks down to the human/elf camp. He meets with both the Elvenking and Bard. Bilbo wants peace and to save his friends, so he gives Bard the Arkenstone of Thrain in order to negotiate peace with Thorin. The cache name here is tenuous and like Bilbo, I too am a Thief. The location of this cache may be familiar to many as it was the home of a previous cache, now archived. I tried hard not to use previous GZs, but this is a nice hidey hole, and I make no apologies for being a "Thief in the Night".

There is no need to bushwack to any of the caches and please tread carefully to avoid the woodland flowers at various times of year. A big thank you to Steph Hefferan, Ranger in Charge of the Whitegate Way, for allowing the placement of these caches. Have fun and may your quest be as fruitful as Bilbo Baggins’.
