Once Bilbo and the dwarves enter the mountain, Bilbo is sent to find Smaug, the terrible Dragon. Smaug is lying on a huge bed of jewels and gold. Bilbo sneaks up and grabs a large golden cup, which he takes back to the dwarves. Smaug is furious and waits for Bilbo. They converse and Smaug reveals his armoured underbelly, but Bilbo spots a weakness, a bare patch of scales. Bilbo tells the dwarves all that he let slip, which will point Smaug in the direction of Lake-town. The title of this cache will point you too in the right direction of the treasure.
There is no need to bushwack to any of the caches and please tread carefully to avoid the woodland flowers at various times of year. A big thank you to Steph Hefferan, Ranger in Charge of the Whitegate Way, for allowing the placement of these caches. Have fun and may your quest be as fruitful as Bilbo Baggins’.
